What number of strikes are wanted to trade the positions of black and white pawns? That’s, all black pawns needs to be positioned on the under line and vice versa. However, all black pawns are similar and so are all white pawns.
Every pawn might be moved to an adjoining clean sq..

Not the optimum resolution of 52 strikes as the opposite reply presents, I managed to get 62 strikes by making an attempt to put appropriate pawns on the 4 corners first. As soon as every nook is solved and the remaining black and white pawns are all adjoining, then shifting them is trivial.
